About Dr. Blossom A. Burton
A life of inquiry, service, and creative expression.
Dr. Blossom A. Burton is a writer, contemplative, and consciousness explorer whose life has moved through education, international service, spiritual inquiry, and creative expression.
Her professional life began in education and human services and expanded into higher education, program leadership, and international development. She earned a doctorate in Higher Education Administration and went on to serve in leadership roles in the United States and abroad, including as Africare’s Program Manager in Lesotho and Director of Special Projects for a USAID and Rutgers initiative. She also served as one of the first international liaisons for South Africa’s first democratic elections, with responsibility for the Free State province.
Those years brought her into different countries, institutions, communities, and ways of understanding human development. Alongside that outward life, another inquiry was unfolding.
Over decades, Dr. Burton’s spiritual life deepened through direct experience and sustained inquiry into consciousness, presence, identity, and the nature of human experience. Rather than developing a spiritual system to be followed, her understanding emerged through living itself: through what was encountered, questioned, lost, recognized, and seen anew.
Today, these different strands of her life meet in her creative work.
She writes from the meeting place between lived experience and recognition. Her work includes books, contemplative writing, music, art, and The Living Record of Presence, an evolving body of work that preserves life as it is being lived alongside the understanding that emerges from it over time.
Across these forms, her interest remains remarkably simple: to stay close enough to life to see what is actually here.
